Behind the stone walls of an old Mallorcan house lies a garden that breathes history while offering space for new life. When we were commissioned with the project, we found a place frozen in time, with remnants of what was once a Mediterranean garden that longed to be revived.
Our goal was to create a garden that would provide retreat and tranquility, while also meeting the everyday needs of a family. The entrance is defined by an old petanque court, which we restored and framed with Mediterranean plants. Particularly striking is the red sage, which adds vibrant color accents amidst the green tones. A centuries-old olive tree on a slightly elevated well forms the centerpiece of the garden, accompanied by two cypress trees that provide structure and height.
From the entrance, you access the main veranda. Here, we chose an organized and structured planting with pistachios, westringias, and teucriums. To give the space lightness and movement, we complemented it with blue irises. In the terrace area, the garden begins to come alive. The pool is surrounded by tropical-inspired vegetation and serves as a retreat on hot days. An adjacent outdoor kitchen invites long meals and relaxed evenings outdoors. The outdoor shower, made of natural stone and handcrafted Huguet tiles, brings authenticity and refreshing simplicity. The heart of the garden is a path of Mares sandstone, flanked by perovskias and young olive trees. This path leads to a quiet seating area with sofas – a place to unwind, chat, or simply enjoy nature.
